title= Background: Saints and Scholars Integrated Primary School have always valued learning outdoors and children across the key stages have regular access to our onsite woodland. In 2019 the Foundation Stage staff in our school attended the NIFSA Learning Without Walls conference and we heard from a number of brilliant speakers. After attending this session all of the staff were enthused and we had lots of ideas which helped us to know where to start. The P1 teacher Naomi Riddel has recently completed the Level Three Forest School Award.

title= Forest School setting: We are a welcoming, friendly and child centred school on the outskirts of Armagh. Within our school site we have a beautiful, mature woodland called Leafy Hollow. The Parent Teacher Association created a path through the woodland and ensured the space was safe for the children in the school to use. More recently work has been completed in Leafy Hollow to create seating areas and learning spaces. We also decided it would be important to ensure our children had appropriate clothing for Forest School and so suits were purchased for the children within the Foundation Stage. There really is no such thing as bad weather now. The children and staff all have appropriate clothing to ensure we can go outdoors in most weather conditions.
