Getting Background: We secured a Forest School Award in 2018/19 from Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council. We used Crumlin Glen which is a short walk away from our school. The Glen was great for developing outdoor lessons. Everybody, teacher, pupils and parents all loved the experience.

Enjoying Forest School setting: St. Joseph's is situated approximately 14 miles from Belfast and serves the Parish of Glenavy and Killead. The building is not only beautifully designed but also incorporates some of the most modern, up to date facilities available in a school in Northern Ireland. In St. Joseph s we aim to promote a caring environment which will enable all children to make the most of their potential for academic, spiritual, physical and emotional development. The central focus in terms of our ethos is a child-centred approach, whereby all partners involved in the pupils learning development have a key role to play. Forest Schools is perfect for developing a child-centred approach.
